The Chapel Baton Rouge is seeking a passionate Chapel Kids Director to lead and inspire our growing family ministries. As a nondenominational church who is a part of the Salt Network, we are one church with two locations: Our first location is on the LSU campus and hosts our Salt LSU college ministry which attracts hundreds of college students each week. Our second location is situated about 10 miles away and is located in the fastest-growing area of our community, boasting a diverse, multigenerational congregation with many young families.
We need a leader who can connect with families, recruit and empower volunteers, and drive The Chapel's mission across both locations. Position Overview:
Position: Children’s Ministry Director
Reports To: Site Pastor
Supervises: Children’s Ministry Staff, PlayCare Director
Coordinates With: Family Life Team, Student Ministry Director, Advance Team, Salt LSU Team and the Chapel Staff
Position Status: Full-Time
Summary of Position:
In partnership with the Student Ministry Director, the Children’s Ministry Director will lead The Chapel’s Children’s Ministry across both locations, furthering our mission.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the Children’s Ministry, championing program alignment between Chapel locations.
- Through the empowerment of others, direct the Sunday morning Children’s Ministry program at both locations.
- Champion The Chapel’s Family Ministry model, engaging and equipping families.
- Mentor the paid Children’s Ministry team, including PreK and Elementary Coordinators, and the PlayCare Director.
- Aggressively recruit and develop Children's Ministry volunteers.
- Recruit and develop volunteer teams to reach and disciple children and their families.
- Provide pastoral care and support to children and their families.
- Oversee Children’s Ministry events and retreats.
- Manage The Chapel’s matrix for measuring the growth/health of the Children’s Ministry.
- Lead the use of technology and social media for Children’s Ministry communications.
- Oversee the financial stability of the yearly Children’s Ministry budget.
Qualifications:
- Spiritual maturity and character coming from a deeply rooted relationship with Jesus.
- A relational leader who values connection with children and families.
- A college degree, preferably in a related field.
- 2-5 years’ experience in a Children’s Ministry leadership role.
- A passion for reaching and discipling both churched and unchurched students.
- A self-motivated leader who excels in a team environment.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, and lead teams.
- A problem solver with project management experience.
- Alignment with The Chapel’s culture, vision, and doctrinal statement.
